My family's juice business has been looking for an earth friendly alternative to paper straws—which are great in that they biodegrade quickly, but also start to breakdown halfway through customer's smoothies. When customers started to bring their own (single use) straws, I knew we needed to make a change. In fortuitous timing, Neil from Earth Cycle sent me a sample of these agave based straws made from the waste stream of tequila production. They hold up for hours, have a unique appearance, and seem much preferable to other bio-based plastics in their environmental impact. Neil at Earth-Cycle has has been amazing to work with. He's been super responsive to my questions and truly going above and beyond to accommodate our business. I hope to see them expand their line of agave based products to include portion and drink cups, as I would love to switch from our current corn based plastics. It's wonderful to find a great product and someone great to buy it from!
